ASUS M2N4-SLI & XFX 8600GT 512MB
Monday, August 18, 2008, 03:17 AM
Well my Mesh machine crashed earlier this week (it had been doing this recenetley) with a blue screen of death. On restarting I heard One Long beep followed by Two short beeps.

This means in BIOS POST terms that is a Video Card error. Annoyed I said well I have SLI config of two 7300GS's so I will take one out one by one and etc.. However no such luck so I decided to buy the XFX 8600GT but even then it did not work.

After thinking of buying a new pc, I decided to check the net where some people mentioned to check the ram. Hooray I found the socket one with the ram is either faulty or the ram is.

Once everything booted up I tested the new graphis card with FSX and was very impressed, no more stutters and settings could be turned up to 100% (yes 100%!!! :) )

Loving the XFX 8600GT 512mb and will be ordering some new ram. Also cleaned out the case of dust and the AMD Core is idle around 32C and under high load it reaches the high 40Cs which is perfect!

Been a while since last update so loads of changes:

- JavaChat has been added to Projects.
- Farnborough 08 videos and pictures have been added to private pictures.

Since Feb:

- Samsung HD 37" was bought with a PS3 and 5.1 Surround Sound and very happy with the quality.
- Nokia N80 is beginning to die after 2 years of use so searching for a new phone.
- Main Mesh PC is having some issues with overheating so taking a look at the Dell XPS.
- Created a charity website for the 999Club. The website was built from scratch and uses custom PHP code to allow them to update there site.

Lastly I finished the website below for AirNavs Web tracker which is called AirNav Live. Still in beta at the moment and small changes are being done. Have a look at:

British Airways 777 Dubai Trip
Monday, February 11, 2008, 07:37 AM
I added two videos to youtube from my recent trip to Dubai.

Heathrow Landing:
Standard 27L approach taken from row 29 (behind the wing). Shows the spot where a BA 777 had crash landed and also note the car park before landing is where I usually lose ADS-B contact with aircraft from my location 12 miles away.

Dubai Takeoff:
Sorry for the baby crying loudly at the start but don't worry it soons stops. The takeoff from 12R which is newly built (only a month old) to handle A380 traffic and also the new terminal which is nearly ready.

Heathrow Landing

Dubai Takeoff

Both videos were taken from a Canon IXUS 5 Megapixel at 320 x 240 (QVGA). Next time with a new camera it will hopefully be 640 x 480

Pocket Surfer 2
Friday, November 23, 2007, 11:06 PM
Well have been after a device for awhile now which would give me access to the net on the move (yes the N80 does this but something in which you could read an email and reply too without taking 5 years)

The answer is the Pocket Surfer 2. BUT... the device which was delayed for a 3 months this year has had mixed reviews. I however managed to find a cheaper deal on ebay (40 cheaper) and decided to see which side of the reviews I would be on.

I hoping it should arrive within the next 5 days and will get some pics and review together.

Mainly I will be looking at the following features:

- Speed
- Connectivity on the train
- Battery life
- Remote Desktop function
- Ease of use

Pocket Surfer 2 arrived on Sat, have a look at the review so far at Review

Been a while since I posted but now have some free times on the weekends and some nights so looking to buy a PS3 and a LCD.

PS3 as you may know has now been reduced to 300 which is a great, I had a quick play with Motor Cross but actually wasn't too impressed. I am sure however there are other games out there which are much better.

LCD wise, there are now TVs for around 300 for 32" which is plenty for my room. Not to mention many come with DVI slots therefore I could link my PC and watch those films on the screen with sound.

Deals are out there below. Question is whether to buy after Xmas for even better deals or buy now to enjoy over the Xmas break?

Hannspree 32inch LCD HD
Orion 32 inch LCD HD
