British Airways 777 Dubai Trip
Monday, February 11, 2008, 07:37 AMI added two videos to youtube from my recent trip to Dubai.
Standard 27L approach taken from row 29 (behind the wing). Shows the spot where a BA 777 had crash landed and also note the car park before landing is where I usually lose ADS-B contact with aircraft from my location 12 miles away.
Sorry for the baby crying loudly at the start but don't worry it soons stops. The takeoff from 12R which is newly built (only a month old) to handle A380 traffic and also the new terminal which is nearly ready.
Both videos were taken from a Canon IXUS 5 Megapixel at 320 x 240 (QVGA). Next time with a new camera it will hopefully be 640 x 480

Pocket Surfer 2
Friday, November 23, 2007, 11:06 PMWell have been after a device for awhile now which would give me access to the net on the move (yes the N80 does this but something in which you could read an email and reply too without taking 5 years)
The answer is the Pocket Surfer 2. BUT... the device which was delayed for a 3 months this year has had mixed reviews. I however managed to find a cheaper deal on ebay (£40 cheaper) and decided to see which side of the reviews I would be on.
I hoping it should arrive within the next 5 days and will get some pics and review together.
Mainly I will be looking at the following features:
- Connectivity on the train
- Battery life
- Remote Desktop function
- Ease of use
Pocket Surfer 2 arrived on Sat, have a look at the review so far at Review

PS3 & HD LCD
Monday, November 5, 2007, 03:58 AMBeen a while since I posted but now have some free times on the weekends and some nights so looking to buy a PS3 and a LCD.
PS3 as you may know has now been reduced to £300 which is a great, I had a quick play with Motor Cross but actually wasn't too impressed. I am sure however there are other games out there which are much better.
LCD wise, there are now TVs for around £300 for 32" which is plenty for my room. Not to mention many come with DVI slots therefore I could link my PC and watch those films on the screen with sound.
Deals are out there below. Question is whether to buy after Xmas for even better deals or buy now to enjoy over the Xmas break?

Thursday, August 9, 2007, 10:33 PMThe migration date from f2s to Sky was the 6th August and it went through perfectly :)
Yup that's right, no nightmare stories so far. The f2s stopped syncing at about 11:30 and by 12 I had the sky router on and everything running fine. Speed is now 8mb and upload speed remains the same.
Had a slight issue with a older wireless usb (netgear wg111) with speed issues over wireless with skys netgear dg834g. However changed the usb with a newer one and all is perfect. Has to configure a few settings to get the server running but nothing complicated.
So far router has been connected for longer than 60hours and no drop outs and speed is quick. So thumbs up so far for Sky Broadband.

Wednesday, August 1, 2007, 03:57 AMAfter joining the beta I finally got my login id yesterday. Initial thoughts are disappointing:
1.) Download was slow, 1 hour for 100mb video of 30 minutes. (however seemed it took long to connect, once connected it was downloading at a good speed)
2.) Not all shows available. It looks like the BBC only has rights to certain programs and hence any films shown or American dramas like Heroes are not on the list.
However I have heard this may change. As it is a beta it still looking good in terms of the basic function of catching up with any BBC programs you missed.
